We are pleased to announce the addition of three new members to the Franklin Education Connection Board.
Sherri S. Hall is an Assistant Professor of Education at Franklin College. She has been with the college since 2002. Prior to coming to Franklin, she spent 20 years teaching grades 6-12 English/language arts. She is a past president of the Franklin Boys and Girls Club and the current advisor to the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity at the college. Sherri has served as a Study Buddy for 9 years. She and her husband Ellis live in Franklin.
“When I was approached to be a board member, the first thing I thought of was how much Study Connections has had an impact on the children of our community. I’ve seen first-hand how important those connections with caring adults (who aren’t mom/dad/guardian or teacher) can be for students. Because I know it’s value, I’m eager to support the organization in this way.”
Lisa graduated from IUPUI with a BS in Psychology and later obtained her MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. She and her husband have 2 children, 2 dogs and a cat and love to spend time outdoors, particularly around water! Lisa is the supervisor for Wraparound in Johnson County at Adult and Child, Franklin office.
“I have worked closely with Franklin Schools (and still do!) for my entire time at A&C and can’t wait to give back to the schools and my community! I am also excited to meet and work with more members of my community!”
Tara and her husband of 16 years, Matt, live in Franklin with their daughter, Gracey (15) and son, Matthew (11). She grew up in Franklin and graduated from Franklin Community High School. Tara also graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work from the IU School of Social Work at IUPUI. She is a Journey Fellowship graduate and a Leadership Johnson County graduate. She spent 13 years as a National Marketing Manager for a sports marketing company based out of Smyrna, GA. Tara served as the Discover Downtown Franklin Executive Director for three years before accepting the position as Director of Public Relations for the City of Franklin. Hobbies include: going on international mission trips, kayaking, vacationing, reading, and watching her kid’s sporting events. Community involvement: Discover Downtown Franklin’s Promotion Committee, LJC’s Alumni Relations Committee, LJC’s Wine Tasting Committee, FCSC Communications Committee, and now the Franklin Education Connection Board of Directors. She also volunteers in several other areas in her life.
“I am an advocate at heart. I feel like the combination of my social work background, growing up with both of my parents teaching in public schools, my children in the school system, and my career with the City of Franklin makes the Franklin Education Connection Board a perfect fit. I’m excited to get started!”
Bringing their diverse and extensive backgrounds to FEC, these new members share in our mission to supplement and support work of schools and community by providing resources to enhance each student’s academic experience. Please join us in welcoming them!
