My Study Student and I have worked together for 3 years now. We have become good buddies often talking about his new puppy or kitten at home, or the latest episode of “Turtle Man.” After our “life updates” we generally dive into his upcoming spelling test. Over the course of 3 years, we have seen a drastic improvement in his ability breakdown words by sounding them out, writing them more legibly, and his ability to focus on the task at hand. He has certainly benefited academically from participating in the program. That is what we expected.
But he has also accomplished something unknowingly. Every Thursday at 2:30pm, he has provided me with the opportunity to step back from the mid-week stresses of the business world, loosen my tie and realize there are more important things in our world. An eight year old boy has taught me to take a moment every once in a while to slow down, think like a kid again, and don’t be afraid to go on an “adventure” with “Turtle Man.”
Who is teaching who? Thank you buddy!
